Aims of the EE retainer

The retainer enables clients to focus on their business by providing expert consulting and practical support. It ensures full EE compliance, prevents fines and, once Sector Targets are in place, the inclusion of Management Control in clients’ B-BBEE scorecards. It also helps retain State contracts.

EE assistance included in the retainer

  • An assessment of clients’ EE compliance including recommendations to address any identified shortfalls.
  • One hour assistance (if < 1000 employees) or two hours (if >1000 employees) per month, which includes assistance in the setting up of EE Committees, monthly meetings, overseeing the effective usage of Equity Pro by members in making appointments, ensuring the effective management of EE and dealing with the DEL if targeted for a D-G Review.
  •  A further one-hour assistance (if < 1000 employees) or two hours (if >1000 employees) per month, which includes:
      • Giving feedback on the outcome of the EE Compliance Risk Assessment
      • Reviewing composition/setting up of EECs and EE Governance structures
      • Monthly meetings
      • Overseeing the effective usage of Equity Pro by members in making appointments aligned to clients’ EE Goals
      • Facilitating processes to ensure adherence to EE Goals Management Guidelines when making appointments, the justified authorisation of deviations and capturing of all relevant evidence
      • Presentations to CEOs and EXCOs
  • Equity Pro Lite Module license fee and access thereto for the three-year duration of the retainer.
  • Monthly importing of clients’ Workforce Profile data received from clients to ensure that ‘real time’ EE data is available to clients’ managers and HR when making appointments.
  • Three hours training for line managers and HRBPs on Equity Pro to enable them to identify the above gaps.
  • Two-day EE training session for EEC members during the retainer.
  • Preparation for, and attendance (and chairing if required) of, quarterly EEC and EE Management meetings to ensure that EE is properly and effectively implemented, and monitored.
  • Annual preparation of EEA2 and EEA4 reports for submission to the DEL.

Retainer period

The retainer being offered to clients is offered for a period of three years on the basis of clients subscribing to the retainer paying the monthly retainer fee.
